Let's get creative: 5 LA startups looking for designers

John Siegel

Los Angeles is known as the cradle for creativity, not just in the United States, but around the world. For decades, LA has nurtured the careers of musicians, writers and actors, but a relatively new outlet for creativity has opened up here over the past 20 years: tech. Here are five startups looking to add to their creative teams as soon as possible.

Location: Pasadena

Founded: 2007

BioOpenX is a digital and mobile advertising technology developer. Nearly a decade old, the company has two acquisitions to its name, in addition to having raised more than $70 million in funding.

Perks: Healthcare, 401(k) Fidelity investments, disability coverage, catered lunch three times a week, monthly mixers and happy hours, weekly yoga class and an onsite massage therapist, a flexible spending account, life insurance, casual dress and more.

Bio: Named one of Built In LA's 50 startups to watch in 2017, Bonfire Studios emerged from stealth in late 2016 with news that it had raised $25 million to work on a much anticipated, yet to be named title. Founded by Rob Pardo, former chief creative officer and lead designer for the smash hit game "World of Warcraft," Bonfire is working diligently on their secret project.

Perks: Medical, dental and vision insurance (family coverage, too), unlimited PTO, employee stock option plan, competitive salaries, studio-wide holiday shutdown.

Headquarters: DTLA
