Mobcrush brings in $20M Series B

A big week for LA tech companies just got bigger. Mobcrush, a mobile live-streaming app used predominantly by gamers, announced the company closed a $20 million Series B Tuesday.

The company said they will use the cash to continue marketing efforts, as well as grow its engineering team.

The round was led by Los Angeles-based Evolution Media, with contributions from Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, which led Mobcrush's Series A financing in September 2015, as well as Raine Ventures, Lowercase Capital, First Round Capital, among others. To date, the Santa Monica-based company has raised $35.9 million.

"Mobcrush is a technology and entertainment company at the epicenter of mobile gaming, live streaming, eSports and the creator-driven media revolution," CEO Royce Disini said in a statement. "No other company makes it as easy to live broadcast your mobile screen, whether it's on an iOS or Android device. This additional investment will enable us to exponentially expand our community of content producers and viewers globally."

Over the past several years, technology has allowed everyone to become content creators, with YouTube, Snapchat and Instagram "personalities" garnering billions of hits while creating lucrative careers for themselves. Mobcrush allows gamers to stream their mobile gaming adventures in a way never really possible before, and fans are taking notice: the company boasts more than a million monthly active users.
