Techstars launches new LA healthcare accelerator

Techstars and Cedars-Sinai unveiled a new partnership today with the announcement of their Techstars Healthcare Accelerator — a three-month program for entrepreneurs in the global healthcare industry.

The new accelerator, launching in March 2016, marks Techstar's 10th corporate program and will provide funding, mentorship and guidance from the two companies' vast list of influencers.

"We’re always interested in finding ways to provide greater benefit to our community. We hope that this effort not only results in innovations that improve health and healthcare delivery, but also supports local entrepreneurs and attracts new entrepreneurs to Los Angeles,”  said Darren Dworkin, CIO at Cedars-Sinai. “The Techstars Healthcare Accelerator, in partnership with Cedars-Sinai, is our way of connecting the right people with the right project, and helping them develop their skill sets through mentorship.

Techstars has begun accepting applications as they search for the 10 companies who will work out of Cedars-Sinai in West Hollywood. All companies participating in the accelerator will receive $120,000 in initial funding and will present their companies on a June 23, 2016 Demo Day.

"We have an incredibly diverse startup ecosystem in Los Angeles, one that continues to grow rapidly. The Techstars Healthcare Accelerator, in partnership with Cedars-Sinai, is an awesome opportunity for innovators in technologies that can change and save lives," said Cody Simms, Managing Director of Techstars’ Disney Accelerator. "For the last two years, Techstars has been developing a strong ecosystem of mentors and founders across LA through the Disney Accelerator, powered by Techstars program and we are thrilled to be increasing our support of the LA technology community."
