LA is a city full of artists waiting to be discovered. Whether or not they have any talent is yet to be determined, but a new local app is making it easier for them to promote themselves.

Launched on Monday, Woodland Hills-based Talnts is a platform designed for talented individuals, groups and brands, creating a simplified way for them to connect with one another in order to promote content. Described as a combination of LinkedIn and Tinder, the app received a $1.5 million seed round in January and has been downloaded 2,400 times in its first four days.

CEO and Founder John Goldbranson was once a musician looking for recognition in LA and his frustration with sites like MySpace inspired him to create a better way to showcase and find talent.

“Most of our influence came from those days of MySpace way back when, and integrating that idea to mobile devices,” said Goldbranson. “We also love what LinkedIn does for business people but, the thing is, they are more about what that person does than what their content is. That's good for a business professional but not good for a creative.”

With Talnts, artists use hashtags to define themselves within their own creative world, making it easier for local brands to search and view the content they are creating. Goldbranson described the user feedback over the first week as being tremendously positive with one user claiming this will allow her to “begin posting content that truly matters.”
