IRIS.TV, the LA-based the personalized video publishing platform, announced a $5.3 million in a Series A round. The funds will be used to develop their personalized video recommendation API and software toolkit.

The main contributors to the round were Sierra Wasatch, BDMI, Progress Ventures, Allen DeBevoise of Mahinima, and James Barge of Lions Gate. This is IRIS.TV’s first funding round since their seed round gathered $1.7 million in 2013.

The company began as a video discovery platform called Jukebox Television in 2010. After realizing the broader applications for the system, the company turned the platform into an API, creating IRIS.TV in 2012. The company’s core product, Adaptive Stream, channels relevant content to viewers in an interactive, personalized experience in order to help video publishers increase consumption and gather analytics about their viewers.
