Designers at Tradesy aren't just pixel pushers – design is an integral part of how we make product decisions.We are looking for an outrageously talented (and nice) Senior Visual Designer who has the vision and execution ability to take the brand and experience to the next level; A conceptual designer with a strong digital background that shares our insatiable desire to do amazing work. A designer who seamlessly collaborates with product managers, UX/product designers, front-end developers, and marketing teams to produce experiences that are undeniably shareable.
As a Senior Designer at Tradesy, you'll be responsible for conceptualizing exceptional experiences and owning the execution from designing mockups, to building prototypes, to working with engineers to polish the final product. You'll design scalable interface systems, elevate the product beyond utility by designing for emotion and desire, and obsess over the details. To truly differentiate ourselves in the marketplace we’re looking for the most dedicated, passionate and talented designers to join our team in sunny Santa Monica.
You Are:
- A creative visionary: Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch are your best friends. You've mastered creatively conceptualizing digital experiences; you possess exceptional aesthetic judgment with a keen eye for light, color, value, form, typography, photography, videography, and composition.
- Holistic and detailed: You are at ease visualizing blue-sky ideas at a conceptual stage, but can zoom in to pixel-level detail during production, and drive creation of shippable, quality elements.
- A great communicator: you communicate clearly; you are are open to feedback and are able to provide constructive design critique while inspiring others to contribute.
- Multimedia-savvy: your enthusiasm for all things digital has ingrained in you a deep understanding of how to harness web technology to create awesome experiences to engage users.
- Collaborative: you thrive in a highly collaborative environment, nurturing the personal growth and excellence of the team through honest criticism and feedback.
- A leader: You're comfortable setting goals, motivating your team, and guiding your team toward success.
You Will:
- Develop, implement and maintain brand standards, style guides, and visual design and UI pattern libraries
- Create a visual brand style for typography, photography, icons, custom controls, animations, and transitions delivering beautiful, coherent, and highly functional interfaces
- Create engaging, usable, and effective visual design solutions to achieve user goals and business objectives
- Validate the effectiveness of visual designs through research and usability studies
- Define experience goals, describe user flows, create sketches, wireframes, mockups and prototypes
- Collaborate across disciplines including product managers, engineers, UX/product designers, marketing and copywriters to execute on elegant interfaces that make the complex simple
- Maintain high standards for original concepts and detailed execution
- Iterate on designs based on customer feedback and data
- Evangelize design across the organization
You Have:
- 3-5 years related work experience within visual or UI design.
- Four year college degree or equivalent experience in visual design or related field (preferred)
- Passion and curiosity about new platforms and emerging technologies
- A strong portfolio displaying individual contribution to designing magical and usable interfaces with experience designing interfaces and producing visual assets for web and mobile
- An analytical mindset to understand and solve complex problems through design
- An exquisite aesthetic for visual rhythm, motion, sense of composition and style
- An uncanny ability to learn quickly and take critical feedback without breaking stride
- Experience working in small teams and in a highly autonomous environment on both short term and long term projects.
- Experience or interest in user research and usability studies
- An understanding of mobile design guidelines
- A solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, site architecture, user interfaces, and navigation
- Demonstrate care, vision, and planning in everything you do
Bonus Points:
- Strong conceptual thinking. We want people who can start a project off from an incredibly strong position and come up with surprising, cool concepts to move forward with.
- A great attitude with a balance of pride and humility. We are a diva-free work zone.
- Familiarity with prototyping tools (ex. Sketch, InVision, Framer, HTML/CSS.)
- Working knowledge of relevant programming languages used in interactive design (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, etc) is a plus but not required.
As part of the Design team, your creativity, leadership, passion, and perseverance will combine with your craft to help you imagine and create top-tier work that delights and connects with customers. This role will work closely with the Design Director to plan, conceptualize, design and deliver spectacular visual experiences. You will influence and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of designers, developers, copywriters, marketers, and more to deliver outstanding creative work.
