At tronc we are growing data and engineering teams in our Los Angeles offices to power the future of digital news and promote quality journalism. Currently, we're looking for an experienced Senior AWS Infrastructure Engineer to architect and operate the infrastructure that powers the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, New York Daily News and 150 other publications.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a secure, highly available and high-performance environment
  • Work closely with engineering team to define process 
  • Provide thought leadership to guide software developers though complex projects
  • Take an active role in keeping tronc up to date in new cloud technologies

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience building and tuning highly available infrastructure in AWS;
  • Deep understanding of current AWS capabilities, limitations, and costing methodologies;
  • Significant experience configuring and tuning web/application servers;
  • Hands-on experience designing effective and scalable security strategies using IAM roles/ policies;
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills;
  • BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience;
  • Smarts, humility, creativity, and equal willingness to teach and learn.
