Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played PC game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

As a Product Comms Strategist, you'll represent the the League of Legends brand and PIE products (personalization items and in-game events) by:

  • Developing strategies for direct to player communications and working to tactically execute them in written and visual form (partnering with other internal teams as need be, e.g. videographers, editors, etc.)
  • Working with brand teams to include earned media tactics where strategically appropriate in marketing plans: press/media outreach, streamer/content creator programs, etc. You'll also be responsible for helping to deliver their execution in partnership with regions/central comms resources
  • Working directly with Product and Commerce teams to offer a comms/player lens to key content and pricing decisions
  • Being a direct representative of LoL/PIE to players via individual engagement on boards, etc.

You are:

  • A Brand/Product Communications powerhouse: you've been working within the PR, player comms, or influencer/content creator discipline of a gaming company or at an agency with a gaming company as your primary client
  • A core gamer: you haven't just worked in gaming… you live and breathe competitive games. You play, you watch streams related to the games you play, and you're all over the boards
  • A natural connector and relationship builder: you thrive in setting up relationships with diverse groups of people. From helping a product person refine their strategy, to maintaining positive relationships with writers/press, to staying closer with influential and everyday LoL players
  • A storyteller: you have the ability to turn complex topics into messages that are clear and compelling to players and media where applicable
  • An earned channel expert/innovator: you embrace the fact that players are getting their news, opinions, and ideas from different channels, people, and mediums than years past, and you're keen to work with these new frontiers

You will:

  • Craft strategic recommendations for player communications, and drive tactical execution as needed (writing dev articles, writing board posts, etc.). Throughout the process, working to gain alignment amongst key internal stakeholders
  • Interact directly with individual players on boards as necessary. Staying on brand/aligning with strategic messaging points, but offering a relatable voice that clarifies and strengthens relationships with the game
  • Be the earned media expert at the seat of the table as brand leads/the team plans overall personalization and event campaigns. Making recommendations on where earned fits, "why", and "how"
  • Establish/maintain relationships with LoL content creators/influencers, and engaging them to participate in key campaigns/programs as needed
  • Maintain relationships with key members of the press, and reach out with approved campaign/program pitches or asset kits in order to drive tangible coverage
  • Work with Riot offices around the world to support their comms needs as warranted/related to key LoL priorities
  • Work directly with product and commerce teams to offer content/pricing recommendations as needed

Don’t forget to include a resume and cover letter. We receive a lot of applications, but we’ll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you take play seriously.
