Technical Support Engineer, Robot Fleet Support

WHAT WE DO
Postmates relies heavily on our engineering team to realize this vision. Building a software platform that is reliable, scales, and stays agile under demanding product needs is a serious technical challenge. Postmates is a three-part balancing act connecting customers, merchants, and couriers in real-time. If any piece is out of whack, the whole system suffers. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
* Being first line of response to outages happening in the field
* By following technical SOPs, providing software remedies to these outages when possible
* Triaging problems to the right teams, when more specialized help is needed
* Refining and improving SOPs and automation tools
OUR REQUIREMENTS
* Linux and OS X power user (understanding shell and basics of shell scripting, knowing about processes and the filesystem)
* 3+ years of directly-related experience
* Knowing at least one high-level programming languages (Python, C++, etc)
* Ability to communicate with other engineers and explain problems clearly
* Being proactive and self-driven
OUR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Understanding of any configuration management tools, such as Ansible/Chef/Puppet
* Basic experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS/Google Cloud/Azure
* Big bonus – debugging abilities: using logs and metrics, using debugging tools such as gdb/strace.
* Big bonus – basic understanding of networks and TCP and UDP protocols.
