The Role: Senior Desktop Support Engineer

What You Will Do:

The Senior Desktop Support Engineer will be the key person for desktop and application support areas. The support scope of this position will include, not limited to, Windows 10 laptop, desktop, MacBook Pro, printer, iPhone, iPad, VoIP phones, projectors, TV and kiosk system. Application supports includes, not limited to, email, Office 365, Jira, Dropbox, VPN, various CAD/CAE software, HPC.

• Provide 1st/2nd line support of all desktop and iPhone appl. incident/change request 

• Provide 1st/2nd line support of desktop and iPhone H/W support 

• Manage user accounts

• Manage/perform end-point security of systems and data (antivirus/malware).

• Manage desktop/software assets

• Develop and maintain standard image for consistent and efficient setups

• Develop application scripting for future configuration management system

• Research and develop IT technologies for future hardware standard improvements

• Install, move, add, and change user desktops and iPhones

• Develop/manage helpdesk ticket system 

• Develop technical guidelines, governance framework to ensure best practices and security for desktop support area

What You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent relevant, hands-on experience 

• Relevant certifications such as MSCE

• 5+ years of IT desktop support experience for Windows 7/10

• 10+ years of overall IT support experience

• Understanding of CAD/CAE software

• Experience with automated desktop deployments using modern configuration management systems

• Extensive knowledge of computer hardware

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task in an environment of changing priorities

• Proven resourcefulness, creativity, and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to effectively partner with engineering and manufacturing teams

What Sets You Apart:

• Relevant experience in the automotive industry will be given significant consideration

• Experience supporting Apple iPhone programs in a corporate environment

• Extensive knowledge of Apple products

• Experience of supporting Mac OS X in corporate environment

• Fluent knowledge in Linux, preferably in Ubuntu and CENTOS

• Proficiency in scripting and automation - e.g. PowerShell, bash
