Lead Drone Technician

Anduril develops advanced technology for the defense sector, some components of which fly. With a focus on fabricating components, integrating assemblies, and performing end-of-line checkouts, the Lead Drone Technician will join an elite team tasked with developing new hardware alongside engineers, and reliability and safely building production volumes of flight articles to sell to customers.
The Lead Drone Technician will lead a team of highly talented technicians to produce development and production drones for Anduril, working closely with engineers on design, fabrication, and software aspects of the vehicle. Hands-on work on hardware will span a number of areas: composite and metallic structural fabrication and integration, electronic component fabrication & install onto structures, and software loading and full system checkouts. Strong & empathetic leadership of individuals is a must.
Requirements
- Prior experience leading a team either in-kind or directly, in a fast-paced manufacturing/fabrication environment
- Demonstrated experience with many aspects of aircraft fabrication, assembly, and operation including structural fabrication, mechanical integration (flight control surfaces, propulsion, etc.) and avionics build/integration/test.
- Experience with post-laminate trimming, bonding, and finishing composite components, preferably on mission critical aerospace or similar hardware
- Experience with common air-frame construction techniques such as rivets, mechanical fasteners, nut plates, etc.
- Proficient with common hand tools and light power tools
- Proficient with computer use (standard browser, word processing applications)
- Working knowledge of common electrical components, harness construction, and simple electrical issue debugging
- Able to read a wiring diagrams and follow assembly instructions
Preferred Experience
- 4+ years leadership experience; leading a team of
- Prior hands-on experience with kit, model, or experimental aircraft builds
- Experience loading firmware onto integrated digital electronic systems
- Experience running functional checkouts and tests, and diagnosing issues discovered during these processes
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering, Math, Hard Science, Business, etc.)
- Inventory management & material flow planning experience
- Forklift certification
- Piece part fabrication experience including sheetmetal (waterjet, press brake, etc.), and subtractive manufacturing (machining)
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access U.S. only data systems and export controlled data.
