The Role

Tala is looking for a highly motivated VP, Performance Marketing to fuel our growth. Tala is a world leader in providing direct loans and financial services in emerging markets. We are a global team with diverse backgrounds who are singularly focused on using technology, data, and a customer-centric approach to meet the financial needs of the 2+ billion people of the emerging global middle class.

The VP, Performance Marketing will report to the Chief Revenue Officer and will be responsible for building, strengthening, and effectively managing a performance marketing engine. Successful candidates will have a deep background in Performance Marketing, Channel Marketing, Experimentation and Optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of each of our markets, product offerings, and unit economics that touch millions of customers every day across multiple channels.
  • In collaboration with the leadership team, align on Tala’s growth drivers and targets. 
  • Partner closely with the Brand, Comms, Product, Credit and Finance teams to develop plans for new product launches and our annual operating plans, as well as support our brand expansion strategies.
  • Develop effective marketing performance management arrangements that support the achievement of the business’s overall targets, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop a strategy for customer acquisition, retention, monetization and reactivation that balances investing in mature, high performing channels with emerging, lower value but higher upside channels.
  • Craft a global strategy and multi-faceted approach for customer acquisition and retention. 
  • Effectively manage and scale a multi-million dollar budget, allocating and optimizing spend in each of our markets across a blend of channels, including engaging and managing media agencies when appropriate
  • Lead the strategy and road map for marketing technology and how that will drive growth for the long term; have experience evaluating and implementing marketing and attribution tools.
  • Identify management information necessary for ensuring that the performance across all marketing priority areas can be monitored accurately and that any hindrances to strategies are discovered at an early stage.
  • Work with our Finance and Business Intelligence team to lead marketing analytics and ROI analysis for campaigns and channels, while executing robust optimization and A/B testing programs. 
  • Determine necessary pace of improvement in marketing performance across a wide range of targets and standards, inclusive of setting appropriate milestones to be delivered.
  • Deliver actionable insights by synthesizing information from competitor analysis, market research, and channel performance. Test and provide proactive insights and analysis on strategic challenges and new marketing opportunities 
  • Identify opportunities that improve the productivity and efficiency of programs and campaigns.
  • Attract, recruit and hire top talent, act as a strong mentor, and lift the leadership capabilities of those around you.
  • Build and develop healthy, diverse and high performing teams. 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including business to consumer experience. 
  • Data-driven strategist with a deep understanding of consumer metrics, market segmentation and channel analytics 
  • Demonstrated success with buying and executing on both online and traditional/offline channels.
  • Ability to work and excel within a global, matrixed organization; experience in emerging markets strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience building high performing teams.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamically changing environment and excited to bring an energetic, fun and creative approach to your work.
  • Open to business travel as travel could be up to 20% of the time to various emerging markets
