About This Role

The Apeel Sustainability Team is seeking a Senior Manager, Social Impact to support decision making throughout the organization that accounts for the social implications of Apeel’s product development and business practices. The Senior Manager, Social Impact will work cross-functionally by providing guidance for and measurement of positive social impact initiatives that align with commercial objectives, as well as to develop and maintain social responsibility policies and programs related to Apeel’s direct and indirect influence. The Senior Manager, Social Impact will be expected to develop strategy, generate analysis and communicate results/recommendations to a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally. As a Senior Manager, this person should be able to manage competing priorities, handle complex projects, and mentor junior members of the Sustainability Team.

Successful candidates will be results-oriented, organized, and excellent communicators with strong problem solving and analytical skills. The Sustainability Team is looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, and who brings experience in corporate sustainability and project management. This role would not have any direct reports.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop the short-term and long-term strategic roadmap and coordinating KPIs for social impact to demonstrate Apeel’s continuous commitment to social responsibility, while building the foundation and recommendations for long-term, high impact partnerships
  • Build the business case to influence strategic and investment decisions, including the impacts expected and the resources required for implementation
  • Evaluate opportunities and support decision making based on social impact goals as well as Apeel’s financial, brand and environmental sustainability goals.
  • When appropriate, manage and enhance new and existing social impact activations including employee volunteer events, community engagement, and other activities that expand upon Apeel’s core values and engage employees around social impact.
  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the Sustainability Team, as well as Strategic Planning & Analysis and Corporate Development Teams.
  • Build knowledge and alignment across other divisions to proactively identify areas to support decision making and to incorporate relevant stakeholders into social impact project planning and execution.
  • Ensure internal alignment around Apeel’s social impact policies and consistency in Apeel’s external messaging.
  • Evaluate and maintain relationships with an approved pool of partners (NGOs, consultant, etc.) that Apeel can leverage to execute against the social impact roadmap.
  • Provide expertise on corporate social impact and social responsibility issues through benchmarking and staying up to date on industry best practices.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in social responsibility, social science, business or related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the CSR field or an equivalent combination of experience and training such that you are knowledgeable about CSR best practices and stakeholder expectations
  • Graduate degree preferred (MBA, MS, PhD)
  • Comfort with ambiguous, unique and complex problem solving that has broad impact on the business
  • Proven ability to serve in a subject matter expert role that may require making difficult decisions to drive progress with incomplete/imperfect information
  • Ability to work in a team and in a fast paced environment
  • Proven track record of implementing and driving key performance indicators in social impact programs
  • Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills
  • Adept at multitasking
  • Experience building long-term effective partnerships with third parties that are built on opportunities for mutual value creation that benefit both the business and society
  • Validated ability to initiate and lead collaborative efforts of multiple teams within an organization
  • Strong willingness and desire to mentor junior team members, with proven track record of mentorship and the promotion of inclusivity
