Senior Director of Marketing
The company
Metropolis develops advanced computer vision and machine learning technology that makes mobile commerce remarkable. Our platform is deployed in hundreds of mobility facilities and industries with billions in opportunity. We’re building the digital pipes through which the future of mobile commerce will move.
The role
The Director of Marketing will lead storytelling to Metropolis’ prospective customers - both businesses and consumers. This person will develop and execute campaigns in support of Metropolis’ world-class Sales and Growth teams, and will have primary responsibility for elevating Metropolis’ brand as the leading provider of mobile commerce solutions to commercial real estate owners and managers. The Director of Marketing will oversee an existing team of three and then hire and develop amazing new Metropolites. This role reports to the Chief Communications Officer.
Responsibilities
- Competitive differentiation. Humbly, we think Metropolis is in a different league than our competitors. This person will, in partnership with the Sales team, develop and substantiate the case for Metropolis to prospective commercial real estate partners, identify venues (digital and IRL) for telling that story, and build up Metropolis’ brand among our target customers.
- Consumer conversion. Metropolis serves millions of Members, and through partnerships with commercial real estate partners has exposure to millions more. This person will, in partnership with the Growth team, design and implement programs to capture new Members and engage existing Members.
- Paid marketing. Metropolis has taken pole position in our industry with essentially no advertising. This person will have primary responsibility for designing and running experiments to demonstrate what paid marketing is valuable and what’s not, and then pouring gasoline on the stuff that works.
- Owned content and editorial voice. Metropolis has a compelling story to tell, and a unique voice in which to tell it, but we’re just getting started on a program to build and leverage that library. This person will further develop the theory of the editorial case and then manage the production and distribution of that content.
- Web and Social Media. Metropolis does not intend to live and die on Tiktok, but we do intend to cultivate and make good use of megaphones that are available to us. Splitting the difference between very online and not online will be the responsibility of this person.
Requirements
- At least ten years of marketing experience, including at least three years leading teams. Competitive candidates will have extensive experience in a B2B marketing role. Unicorn candidates will also have experience marketing mixed physical/digital services.
- Remarkable writing skills. Not just ok, not good, remarkable. Your writing should make us wish we had thought to put it that way.
- Proficiency with analytics and CRM tools like Tableau, Salesforce, Hubspot, etc.
- Experience in the transportation, mobility, real estate, or logistics industries is a plus! A passion for making the journey remarkable is non-negotiable. But mostly we’re looking for builders who are nice and give a damn.
