Dave is a virtual-first company, which means there is no preference on where team members get their work done. Employees are able to live anywhere in the United States, with the only exception of Hawaii for now. For those who want to work in an office setting on a more regular basis, we will eventually open offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

We’re looking for an Internal Communications Specialist to join our People team at Dave. The Internal Communications team delivers strategic messaging, programs, and internal events that inform, inspire, and recognize Daves and deepen the team’s connection to each other and to the company’s mission, values, strategy, and culture. This function plays a significant role in helping Daves at all levels feel valued and an important part of the company during a time of rapid growth and while implementing our Virtual First working model. 


The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who can bring the Dave culture to life through engaging editorial, events, and programs. You are passionate about building cultures where team members can grow, stay engaged, and feel a sense of purpose and belonging.

  • Identify storytelling opportunities that inform, inspire, and recognize Daves across the company and foster a sense of connection in our Virtual First working model
  • Craft engaging editorial and develop communications plans to share company announcements, milestones, priorities, and programs across various communications channels
  • Look for creative ways to use and implement technology and digital tools to support communications goals, with attention for how to include all Daves in a virtual-first environment
  • Create and maintain editorial and event calendars
  • Support company-wide recognition initiatives that highlight the individual, team, and company-wide outcomes and achievements that we want to celebrate as a company
  • Plan and execute internal company-wide events (e.g., key product launches, Holiday Party, Bring Your Kids to Work Day) that build connection, morale, and affiliation amongst our Daves
  • Work collaboratively with the Talent Acquisition, Social Impact, Marketing, and Corporate Communications/PR teams to ensure we are communicating a compelling employer brand across multiple social platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Glassdoor, BuiltIn)
  • Assist with special projects, programs, and other relevant internal communications needs
  • Administration as needed including preparing contracts and NDAs, mailing packages, ordering supplies, tracking budget, etc. for communications programming

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or English or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in the communications or marketing field or comparable relevant experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including editing and copywriting, that can adjust by tone, voice, and style depending on the audience and platform
  • Experience utilizing internal communications channels and digital tools (intranets, social media, etc.) to help develop and support company culture in a very purposeful and strategic way
  • To be passionate about building an inclusive employee experience
  • An ability to work in ambiguity, take on new challenges, and quickly adapt and change direction based on business needs
  • An ability to develop strong cross-functional relationships with partners and leaders
  • To be versatile and able to shift between tactical and strategic thinking
  • Excellent project management, time management, and organization skills with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Experience managing virtual and in-person events and logistics
  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision-making
  • To be a self-starter – ability to take initiative, anticipate issues, and proactively problem solve
  • A Superior can-do, no-job-is-beneath-you attitude – willing to pitch in and help the team when needed
  • Competencies in Microsoft Office and Google suite, including presentation software

Nice to haves:

  • An eye for design and visual communications
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), Mailchimp, or other multimedia software
  • Prior experience in fin-tech and/or high-growth, fast-paced organizations
