Want to challenge yourself at a high-growth startup AND make a difference in the world?

A bit about us:

Who Gives a Crap sells beautiful, forest friendly toilet paper, paper towels and tissues and we donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for those in need. As much as we love toilet paper, the reason we’re in business is the impact we’re having on the world—to date we’ve donated $1,800,000 to our charity partners to fund sanitation projects in developing countries, and with your help we’re hoping to grow our impact 10-fold in the next couple of years.

We're one of the fastest-growing e-commerce businesses in Australia and are now aggressively entering the North American and European markets, with insanely ambitious growth targets for this year and beyond. We currently have a team of over 60 people working out of Melbourne, Manila, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. We’re never happy with the status quo, though, so we’re planning to double or triple our team in the next year, and we won’t stop growing until everyone in the world has access to a toilet.

A bit about the role:

As a new role in our Growth Marketing Team, the Paid Media Buyer will play a key role in our continued focus on growth and acquisition. Reporting to the Senior Growth Marketing Manager, the Paid Media Buyer will launch, test, analyze, optimize, and scale current & new marketing channels to help delight and retain our 200,000+ customers. This person will be data-driven, but equally creative, and instrumental in driving growth for Who Gives a Crap across Australia, UK and the USA. You will help manage current marketing channels, own the launching and testing of new channels, use analytics to inform decisions, and drive execution to optimize campaigns on each of these channels. You also will work cross functionally with various teams to think of creative out-of-the-box ways to drive growth.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a high-growth startup while applying your skills to a meaningful cause (we donate 50% of our profits to charity). And you’ll get to make toilet jokes all day.

If you worked here this past month, you would have…

  • Helped scale and increase the performance of our current marketing channels, and owned all the needed communication contractors, third parties, and agencies in order to help us scale on each new channel.
  • Successfully launched Google Ads, one of our current marketing channels, into a new GEO market to test its success. Woo!
  • Collaborated with the broader Growth Marketing team during a quarterly team meet-up to brainstorm new ways to drive new customers to our product.
  • Built a dashboard for new channels and provided reports to the team on channel performance, identifying trends and insights that could help increase performance moving forward.
  • Collaborated with the creative team to brainstorm, develop and test ideas for a new channel launch, following up by sharing meaningful insights and recommended next steps.
  • Coordinated cross-functionally across Logistics, Finance, Social Media, Customer Happiness, and Operations to coordinate campaign launches, budgets, and social posts across your current channels.
  • Presented a deck to the team, communicating the super duper interesting finding you found in the latest A/B testing schedule as well as next steps from your recommendations.
  • Maintained and improved daily / weekly / monthly KPI dashboard to monitor and analyze campaign performance.
  • Attended a workshop all about the most effective ways to utilize podcast ads for marketing purposes, and you can’t wait to filter your learnings into a handy-dandy deck you’ll present back to the rest of the Growth team (and maybe to the company, too, during a Town Hall meeting!).

Let’s talk about you!

You're a digital channels expert!

  • You have experience scaling and managing a variety of marketing channels and might even term yourself a “guru” at things like A/B testing, bid management, landing page testing, budget management, creative testing, and dissecting the follow-up reporting and analytics for channel testing.
  • Test-and-learns? Fast pace? No problem! You’ve experienced marketing at a high growth startup or agency, and you do your best work in that environment.
  • You love what you do and are passionate about every opportunity to do great work!

You geek out on data

  • Spreadsheets and data charts are your best friends. Advanced Excel, Google Sheets and analytical skills go without saying for you. You are not afraid of big data sets, and let’s be real. =Index Match is tattooed on your leg next to ‘I heart Mom’.
  • You have a deep understanding of customer analytics: CPA, ROAS, LTV, Churn, Payback Time, etc.
  • You’ve got a proven ability to digest quantitative metrics and translate them into meaningful recommendations internally to the Growth Team and cross-functionally across the business.

You keep your finger on the pulse

  • Your favorite midday reading is Hustle, 2pm, Lean Luxe, and all things marketing. You could probably rattle off a few more that we haven’t even heard about yet!
  • You love to continually swap ideas with friends and connections at other startups, pulling in new ideas, tech, or tactics for testing.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You may or may not have been the kid that stole fruit from the kitchen bowl and tried to sell it back to your parents for $5.
  • You have a bank of ideas you want to test, but know how to prioritize them in order to stay most effective in honing in on the results. Unless you’re an octopus, of course, and then by all means, test everything at once!

You’re all over the detail

  • Obsessive attention to detail with the ability to execute campaigns from ideation to purchase.
  • Deeply self-driven, able to work autonomously, and with a drive for constant improvement.
  • You have an innate love of toilet paper (just kidding, you can learn that on the job).

Why you should work with us

Every minute you spend working with us, you’re making a difference. The more we grow, the bigger an impact we’ll have. Sell your soul no longer! We think that’s a pretty great perk, but we don’t stop there…

If you have a great idea, we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. This is the kind of role that will be hard to find anywhere else: you’ll work with an incredible bunch of passionate people to grow a fast-paced startup at a crucial point in its trajectory.

The job is also amazingly flexible, something we’re working hard to hold onto even as we grow super quickly. We started the business remotely, and now have hubs in 4 cities around the world. While there are some required days per week in our co-working space, you can also mix it up to work in your PJ’s from home or set up office at the beach, up to you! And while we don’t have a Friday drinks trolley, you will get free toilet paper. A lot of it. And nothing beats that.

Lastly, you get to say the word ‘crap’ more than in any other job. Guaranteed.

Salary

This depends on your experience but just because we’re a social enterprise doesn’t mean you’ll get paid peanuts. Think chocolate covered macadamia nuts with some extra perks thrown in. In other words, we pay competitively and are determined to make this the best job you'll ever have – you won’t ever want to leave!

Who Gives A Crap also provides 4 weeks of paid annual vacation (woot!), flexibility to take extra unpaid leave or travel while working,  great health insurance, 401k matching, generous parental leave and a whole lot of other stuff. And did we mention the free toilet paper?
