About the Director, User Acquisition at Headspace:

At Headspace, the User Acquisition team is responsible for bringing in highly engaged new members to the Headspace experience. They partner closely with the rest of the Marketing team as well as Product, Finance, and Data Science teams to create and iterate on innovative data-driven marketing plans that support the growth of our business. The Director, User Acquisition is a critical member of the marketing leadership team who will define strategies, build and develop a team, maintain relationships with key media and platform partners, oversee management of the User Acquisition budget, and work with senior stakeholders including management, to ensure visibility and alignment of KPIs and performance.

A successful candidate must have a passion for our mission, product, and technology, with a strategic mind, and recent experience leading User Acquisition teams, preferably at a subscription based company. They will have had a proven track record of managing teams and agencies that deliver meaningful business results. They will bring fresh ideas, a strong point of view, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace:

  • Lead the Global User Acquisition team to deliver growth at scale leveraging channels such as: Paid Social, SEM, Display, and App Store Optimization (ASO), and Offline Channels
  • Partner with Data Science and Finance to establish KPIs and forecast targets
  • Oversee allocation and manage stewardship of the User Acquisition Budget across channels
  • Manage to tightly defined efficiency and volume targets, with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting against KPIs
  • Lead internal team and collaborate with existing external agency partners, and define new partners as needed to achieve short-term and long-term KPIs
  • Manage performance marketing tech stack, including such tools internal and external tools that facilitate optimization. Identify and recommend new technology and data as needed.
  • Collaborate with broader marketing team on attribution models, analytics, audience segmentation, email, messaging, promotions, and retention strategies
  • Partner with creative team to develop creative that will deliver the highest value
  • Maintain close relationships with our media partners, staying abreast of best practices, innovation, and strategies for all digital acquisition channels
  • Develop and mentor team

What you’ve accomplished:

  • 7-10+ years of working in direct-to-consumer performance marketing at scale at a subscription and/or mobile based company
  • In-depth knowledge of key marketing platforms for performance media channels
  • Intimate experience with ad-serving platforms and digital monitoring solutions
  • Proven experience leveraging data to impact marketing performance and to more efficiently buy better-performing media
  • Track record of driving exceptional campaign results; specifically driving new customer growth with ecommerce and/or mobile app
  • Experience managing large media budgets and hitting monthly goals for user acquisition, CAC, retention, and other key performance metrics
  • Deeply analytical and data driven; proficiency with CPA, LTV, A/B testing, promotional strategy, attribution models, and cohort analysis
  • Experience building and leading teams, as well as managing external agencies
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written to clearly convey market dynamics, strategies, tactics, rationale and results, to peers, agency and executive stakeholders
  • Enjoy and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with C-suite leadership and managing executive communications
  • A demonstrated track record of building consensus and delivering results
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, agile culture—someone who embraces and leads through change and ambiguity
  • Excellent relationship building skills and knows how to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Flexible and versatile in nature, able to overcome challenges while maintaining a positive attitude

We're located in the heart of Santa Monica on Michigan + Cloverfield, just off the 10 freeway. Bergamont train station is right behind our office.
