Job Description Summary:

As part of the Corporate Affairs team, PayPal’s Corporate Communications team is responsible for sharing the company’s compelling story, commitment to values-led leadership and business performance to key stakeholder groups, including business and trade media, influencers, nonprofits, investors and customers. We partner across the company with teams such as product communications, leadership communications, employee communications, finance, legal, government relations and human resources to build programs that communicate our vision, explain our strategy and enhance our corporate reputation.

This role will support the Corporate Communications team in driving strategic communications campaigns that promote PayPal’s positive social impact in communities around the world. The Social Impact Communications Manager will work to raise awareness of our signature global impact programs, including our investments in racial equity and social justice, the Maggie Lena Walker Award and small business empowerment. In addition, this role will be a driving force in how the company communicates during our response to major disasters and sharing the stories of how we invest in the local communities where our employees live and work. We are seeking someone who is a creative thinker, strong writer, experienced collaborator and flawless executor. This individual will join a dynamic team that operates in a fast-paced environment delivering high-impact work.

Responsibilities to Include:

  • Support the corporate communications team in the development and execution of strategic communications campaigns about PayPal’s signature global impact programs, disaster relief efforts and local community investments
  • Lead storytelling in local markets to raise awareness of PayPal corporate initiatives and impact, as well as promote our nonprofit partners and the small businesses we support
  • Build and maintain relationships with local media and influencers in key markets, pitch and coordinate media interviews
  • Manage relationships with PayPal’s local nonprofit partners and coordinate on press strategies and outreach
  • Identify media and story opportunities that can extend our inclusive economy and empowering communities narratives
  • Build and maintain relationships with key business partners across Corporate Affairs, Giving Platform (product), legal and marketing to identify local story opportunities, coordinate on strategy and manage reputational issues related to social impact programs
  • Act as content manager for PayPal’s Corporate website to ensure content stays up to date and accurately reflects our current corporate initiatives and impact
  • Develop a wide range of communications materials including messaging, communications plans, press releases, blog posts, media statements, presentations, briefing materials and coverage reports
  • Support day-to-day media inquiries and briefings

 

Job Requirements

  • Three to five years of communications experience – strong project management skills desired
  • Past success managing and executing strategic communications campaigns and working with media to build brand awareness and reputation
  • Demonstrated ability to pitch and place stories with local and national media
  • Strong writing skills – skilled storyteller with ability to develop compelling narrative
  • Strong communications skills, including writing, verbal and editing.
  • Attention to detail – even in fast-paced environments
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders – this position will work with multiple departments and functions throughout PayPal.
  • Ability to help build/deliver communications programs that advance PayPal’s brand reputation and strategic business priorities
  • Passion for social impact programs and diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Previous experience working on social impact-related issues and familiarity with the technology or financial space a plus
