Content Marketing Coordinator
Stem empowers independent artists to build a sustainable business. Much of a creator’s independence is rooted in financial freedom and literacy. We offer artists, managers, and labels the tools and clarity they need to distribute their music, collect and split royalties from digital platforms, and surface data to analyze and promote their catalog.
Stem offers a forward-thinking digital music distribution service and pioneered consensus-based splits to help artists get paid and easily pay their collaborators. As a financial software for music, we are on a mission to demystify financial concepts for artists and their teams, that’s where you come in. Our ideal Content Marketing Coordinator is a creative self-starter who can both editorialize a release and explain how points on a record are calculated for a producer. Stem’s ethos is to speak to artists as entrepreneurs and our brand impact is best amplified through our artists’ accomplishments using our platform. We are looking for someone who loves highlighting emerging artists and building community in online spaces, who will quickly learn our artist/label roster and will stay close to our account managers to identify key Stem releases and cultural moments to celebrate across our social channels.
This role will also be responsible for managing the Stem blog and email marketing, cross-functional initiatives to build new audiences, educate and engage our current ones, and ensure we are positioned as a thought leader in our space.
This role could be part-time or full-time depending on competencies. It is based in Los Angeles, CA at our West Hollywood office.
What you’ll do:
Own social strategy, content creation, and implementation across key social channels
Manage the Stem blog, collaborating cross-functionally to create new ideas for headlines, content partnerships, blog franchises, case studies, educational content, and more to to engage new audiences
Engage and manage freelance writers/artists, reviewing and editing submissions as needed
Deftly manage the community we are building
Collaborate with leadership to ensure all content is optimized for company priorities and SEO
Develop email marketing initiatives for Stem that support our artists’ releases, Stem brand, and product news
Analyze and report weekly on traffic KPIs for owned channels and synthesize learnings into future strategy
Plug in social strategy and content capture to key internal and external events, highlighting Stem and its company culture
Collaborate with People Operations to create content for Stem’s employer brand channels (Linkedin, Built in LA, website)
Our Ideal Candidate:
Is a content producer, writer & strategist — equally comfortable generating posts as you are developing new ideas and rolling them out
Is proficient in Photoshop or Canva
Is fluent in the constantly evolving language spoken in online spaces and can adopt it in an authentic way for a brand
Loves bringing a brand to life via social media
Has a deep knowledge & passion for pop culture, digital trends, music, and technology, as well as an understanding of the myriad places where artist editorial is thriving
Has 2-3 years experience in digital marketing, with an emphasis on music, business, entertainment, and/or fintech. Extensive personal experience counts
Strong understanding of content marketing partnerships for music & tech
Has impeccable written & verbal communication skills and can spot a typo from a mile away
Can easily adopt & communicate within Stem’s voice & tone guidelines, and then teach it to others
Has excellent judgement and can evaluate content before posting to ensure it is on-brand, inclusive and culturally sensitive
Can create campaigns across owned, earned & paid channels
Can deliver, track & optimize across KPIs
Will manage time effectively, balance priorities & meet deadlines for multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
(Nice to have) Has experience managing freelancers & digital assets: photography, key art, social assets, etc.
