As the WW Publishing Communications Lead, you will serve as a direct counselor and strategist for the President of WW Publishing across all internal and external communications for WW Publishing. This role requires a best-in-class communications strategist with a track record of providing strong critical thinking, executive communication and messaging, and ongoing support to C-suite executives.

When acting as a Communications Lead, you’ll partner with the President of WW Publishing to ensure the organization, and Rioters more broadly, stay informed about what’s happening. Messaging needs to effectively reach all layers of the Publishing organization to ensure alignment with all audiences. You’ll support leadership in communicating WW Publishings vision and strategy, both to the Rioters within the Publishing group, and to the rest of Riot. You’ll do this by crafting and leading communication plans and programs that reinforce the critical role and value Publishing brings to players and lead efforts to help members of WW Publishing to feel excited about their role in doing so. You’ll work closely with the Comms team and other teams across WWPub to help Riot navigate growth and organizational change while maintaining a healthy communication climate.

When crafting external comms, you will ensure that the vision and mission of WW Publishing is consistently reinforced while showcasing the creative and differentiating work coming out of WWPub. You'll develop strategies for direct-to-player/industry communications and work to tactically execute them in written and visual form, partnering with other internal business units, product teams, and publishing teams. You'll also be expected to craft clear, consistent messaging to support the global endeavors of WW Pubishing. Learning how to understand and represent both central and local viewpoints will be crucial.

Responsibilities

Internal Comms

  • Generate exceptional communication strategies that balance, and address, both business goals and Rioter needs; your work won’t just set the bar, it’ll lay the foundation for the future
  • Identify, evaluate, and execute on areas of opportunity where communication tools, messaging, frameworks, or channels can be improved for Rioters globally
  • Educate Rioters globally in developing their own internal messaging and leveraging our internal channels
  • Act as a trusted partner; quickly and effectively developing time-sensitive and critical messaging, while also evaluating and reporting on Rioter sentiment
  • Cultivate relationships with global teams, and find opportunities to improve engagement from an internal communication perspective
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of Riot, surfacing stories and campaigns that reflect who we are, what we care about, and what we need to know as a company
  • Build an authentic relationship with Rioters through transparent, thoughtful, and resonant messaging that’s certified 100% bullshit-free

External Comms

  • Generate exceptional communications strategy—don't just execute but can drive and augment direction where required
  • Act as an expert comms craftsperson within WW Publishing, crafting and directing player-facing comms for clarity, purpose, and intent
  • Discover and understand international player pain, and then bring that to bear in product feedback
  • Prioritize your own work and help your product/initiative team prioritize and recognize wider communications goals
  • Track your own personal growth and actively seek learning opportunities
  • Act as a go-to consult for other communications folks; offering valuable feedback and knowledge based on experience

Qualifications

  • Narrative Focused: mindful of the story for players around the world - to help shape and champion it, and guide thinking and direction based on it
  • A strategist: possess a deep understanding of the different platforms and channels players use, and a vision for comms for our Publishing teams to incorporate into the broader Publishing strategy
  • A trusted confidant: using discretion in all you do as you will be privy to the most sensitive information within the organization
  • A natural communicator: with several years as a communications pro, brand manager, PR, community lead, or similar, you're adept at communicating a lot in a short amount of words; your writing style is unpretentious, unspun, and authentic
  • Agile and adaptable: you live and breathe your craft, but you love getting involved in other aspects of the player experience as well. You’re not afraid to champion important things for players, even if they fall outside of your discipline, and you help elevate projects and initiatives across Riot by adding your considerable craft expertise
  • An enthusiastic coach: you're unruffled working with would-be communicators from all areas of the company, supporting and leveling up their communications with players
  • A global thinker: the challenges of communicating for an internationally published game are global in scope; your culturally-aware and player-focused answers to them are precisely aimed because of your ability and willingness to study problems from all angles
