We are looking for a Systems Administrator reporting to the CTO, who can plan, source, and implement the IT systems for the first-of-its-kind high-tech micro-amusement park, opening 2018 in downtown Los Angeles. You’ll be helping us open the first of these parks, and you’ll be establishing procedures to enable us to open many more.

Yes. We said amusement park.... micro. Created by total nerds. It mostly runs Linux.

Your role will include configuration management, system provisioning, performance optimization, security, and general support for our wild IT infrastructure menagerie, including:

  • Modern amusement park games running Linux and Windows, connected to weird input hardware
  • Show control systems running on MacOS X
  • Networked AV equipment
  • Custom game management servers running in Docker
  • Point-of-sale and cashless swipe card systems
  • Guest-facing tablets
  • A robot that serves drinks
  • On-premises monitoring system
  • Google Firebase cloud services
  • Digital asset management system
  • Local and remote backups

You think doing a job twice is for suckers and live to automate. You have a natural curiosity and love all things tech. You thrive in the fast-paced, ambiguous environment of an early start-up, and are capable of bringing order to chaos.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the infrastructure, including network, storage, servers, helpdesk, and telephony.
  • Provision new machines (games, servers, desktops, etc) and connect them to the network.
  • Support engineering, creative, and production teams to maintain game & media development infrastructure on Windows and MacOS X.
  • Improve performance, security, scalability, and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor system performance and respond to emerging issues.
  • Rigorously document all the things, and establish policies and practices for effective and consistent operations.
  • Help plan for future needs.
  • Manage any outsourced IT activities and negotiate with vendors on services, costs, and delivery.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years relevant industry experience; Broad experience in system administration, performance engineering, dev-ops, site-ops, and push-pops.
  • Some coding experience (we love Python!)
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Creative Writing preferred
  • Proven track record managing diverse projects of varying complexity
  • Technologies we use:
  • Linux, Windows, MacOS X
  • Docker, redis, nginx
  • Centeredge POS, EMBED
  • Unity3d, Python, Openframeworks
  • Google Firebase

Benefits

  • Stock option package commensurate with experience
  • Flexible Vacation time
  • Health benefits
  • Dog friendly workshop
  • Super creative work space
  • You get to work for a Circus
