Law Intern / Extern
Our expanding company is seeking to hire a spring semester legal intern or extern to join our talented team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the legal intern will work closely with the Legal team to solve challenges that arise in the course of everyday business. They will learn to draft and review contracts, draft legal policies, interact directly with internal business clients, and manage substantive research projects touching on issues including employment law, tax, privacy compliance, legislative counseling, consumer protection, and corporate governance. This is a truly unique opportunity for a law student who wants to learn what it means to be an in-house attorney.
The successful candidate will be diligent, resourceful, organized, and comfortable working in a startup environment in which projects move at a fast pace and new challenges arise regularly. They will be comfortable with traditional legal research and eager to develop skills in areas of the law with which they do not have prior experience. We are looking for a passionate, ambitious, and hard-working student who wants to expand their horizons through real-world education.
This internship is either paid or for class credit.
Requirements:
- 2-3L preferred, but strong 1L candidates will be considered
- Spring semester availability
- Must be currently enrolled in law school
- Ability to travel to Duffl's downtown Santa Monica office at least twice a week, with hybrid work available as an option
- Excellent GPA and professor references
- Demonstrated interest in business law
- Humility and eagerness to learn (gunners are welcome, as long as they are nice!)
- Confidence to work on projects independently, but awareness of when to ask for help
Please include with your application a short note on why you are enthusiastic about this opportunity. You do not need to write a formal cover letter.
