The Front-end Architect owns the technology vision and the quality of all client applications at Tradesy. He or she is responsible for setting and maintaining the standards and technologies used to build beautiful, fast, extensible, maintainable, accessible and robust web applications.  As technology evolves, the architect should continuously evaluate and try technologies to proactively evangelize, suggest and plan for changes in frameworks and libraries, as well as staying up to date in the evolution of browsers and a total geek about the HTTP protocol.

This role is responsible for maintaining SEO compliant and optimized web applications from a content, structure and performance perspectives. This is especially important since organic traffic is a key channel for our business.

You Have:

• Developed multiple large production applications using modern JavaScript and web development technologies. Exposure to a large set of technologies but not all need to be expert level, for example: Node, Babel, Gulp, Grunt, Yarn, npm, React, Angular 1/2/4, Ember, Jest, Mocha, FlowType, TypeScript, SASS etc.
• Lead or been involved in large re-platforming or web application re-writes (successfully!).
• Been involved in writing extensive web applications with complex dependencies and infrastructure.
• Experience setting up/building large projects from scratch that are still in production.
• Isomorphic or universal application development a plus.
• Developed and maintained a highly ranked SEO web application for at least a year.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Enjoys mentorship. Coaching is the defacto mode of operation.
• Is an excellent communicator. Knows how and when to apply different communication styles to effectively communicate ideas, technological approach, trade-offs, etc…
• Is a leader and a positive influence for the team
• Is a JavaScript ninja.Is a major advocate of testing. Works closely with Software and QA Engineers to maintain excellent coverage of automated tests (unit, functional, integration and performance tests).
• Is a hands on Architect. We are still in startup mode, we don’t have the luxury of super high level Architects right now.
• Is extremely pragmatic and doesn’t get stuck with the technologies he or she has already experienced.
