Responsibilities
- Utilize minimum requirements to conduct analysis of business data needs and requirements, and convert them to technical specifications; lead online platform architecture discussions and serve as principal decision maker regarding online platform architecture strategy and implementation; collaborate with internal teams to define, contribute, and support the wider technology strategy for the company; work closely with system reference document, release engineering, security, product, user experience, project management, business development, customer success, growth marketing, and executive teams to achieve the company’s strategic goals; oversee engineering teams to ensure engineering best practices are followed with respect to: implementation of tools and/or frameworks for software development, software agility, software security, software accessibility, software compliance, software performance, and software high availability disaster recovery; ensure on time, on budget, and high quality deliverables that maximize business value; proactively communicate and manage stakeholder expectations with respect to platform development; direct a team of cross-functional engineers (architects, front end, back end, and test engineers) to build, deliver, and sustain an online learning services platform. This position involves up to 75% telecommuting. The employee will be permitted work from home at various unanticipated worksite locations throughout the United States.
Education & Experience
- Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Applied Computer Science or related field, plus 2 years post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer or closely related role, and 1 year experience as a Director of Engineering or closely related role. Experience must include API throttling, AWS/Cloud, GraphQL, SaaS, Kafka, Large Scale Systems, Performance Optimization, and development of platform architecture/systems roadmaps. Must also have experience conducting analysis of business data needs and requirements and converting them to technical specifications. This position involves up to 75% telecommuting. Position is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA and the employee will be permitted work from home at various unanticipated worksite locations throughout the United States.
