Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Systems Engineer - Proprietary Programs (Level 3) in Seal Beach, CA or El Segundo, CA.  The selected candidate will work for this dynamic Boeing program, you will join a highly collaborative, close-knit multi-disciplinary team. 

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop CONOPs and interface definitions (media deliverables such as traditional PPTX evolving into MBSE – Enterprise Architect).
  • Support stakeholder needs analysis, technical measure definition, requirements analysis, and allocation & definition for subcontractors, utilizing DOORs, JIRA and Confluence.
  • Support agile development meetings to become a technical focal point for communication to Boeing domain experts.
  • Assist in build content reviews for both agile and formal software deliveries.
  • Assist in coordination of integrated testing requiring strategic functional implementation to support verification and other type of events.
  • Support processing of MCRs, G/R, and SDRLs.
  • Develop and maintain spec requirements for both ongoing activities and innovative new projects.
  • Apply your experience in design and systems engineering principles to solve relevant aerospace issues.
  • Utilize excellent teamwork and written/oral English communications skills.

This position requires an active/current U.S. Security Clearance with successful completion of a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical field is required.
  • Experience with standard systems engineering practices (requirements definition, risk identification and management, fault tree generation, FMECA, etc.).

Preferred (Desired) Qualifications:

Experience developing complex human-in-the-loop systems.
Experience in software architecture and software implementation.
Familiarity with Java.
Experience with containerized software and deployment.
Experience with both waterfall and agile software development is desired.
Technical background in user interface design, autonomous systems, human-computer interaction, and/or machine learning.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
