We're looking for a Sr Manager of DevOps with Cloud experience to join our growing Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers delivering highly scalable web-based systems using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other contemporary tech stacks and services. This role will be responsible for building out highly automated, auto-scaling, self-healing infrastructures to support some of the internet’s highest trafficked websites. The Manager of DevOps will work with the DevOps team to design and implement best practices in DevOps infrastructure and deployment automation and monitoring to ensure systems are highly available, elastically scalable, fault tolerant and performant. This is a 70% hands on, 30% management role.

  • Mentor, lead and manage a growing team of DevOps engineers, setting goals, tracking progress, reviewing performance and assisting personnel with career growth and advancement
  • Recruit and hire DevOps engineering talent as needed
  • Work collaboratively in a DevOps culture with a talented team to build & support systems in AWS using contemporary technologies like Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/ECR, DynamoDB, Kinesis Firehose, Athena, EC2, Elasticache, CloudFront, ELB/ALB, S3 and more.
  • Communicate issues or project details effectively with direct reports, peers and managers
  • Become familiar with overall product and technology roadmap and plan for team and department needs to meet roadmap requirements including staffing, technology innovations/updates, etc
  • Quickly become an expert on the production infrastructure
  • Work closely with teams of engineers to gain a deep application-level knowledge of the systems and contribute to the design decisions being made for applications.
  • Build fully automated CI/CD pipelines for systems and software deployments, including infrastructure configuration and deployment automation.
  • Work with a team of DevOps Engineers taking ownership for the scalability, performance, reliability, security and maintenance of CTI’s production revenue generating websites.
  • Manage and monitor all production systems and infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
  • Maintain security, disaster recovery and redundancy strategies.
  • Assist and support developers with infrastructure requests.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience leading management level professionals.
  • 5+ years of hands on experience as a systems administration/engineer or DevOps role working on highly scalable distributed systems.
  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
  • Operating Systems – Experience supporting mission-critical platforms, both physical and virtualized environments, using CentOS and AWS Linux distributions.
  • Solid working knowledge of Cloud Computing Architectures, Networking Topologies and Clustering techniques.
  • Experience using AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, Cloudwatch, S3, CloudFront, Route53, ELB/ALB and Elasticache under production workloads.
  • Nice to have experience managing Serverless infrastructures using AWS CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, etc.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills -- (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby).
  • Autoscaling/Configuration Management of infrastructure as code using Chef (preferred), Terraform (preferred), Puppet, or similar tools.
  • Hosted Infrastructure - Experience building out a reliable website architecture in AWS.
  • Web Servers – Advanced experience with Nginx.
  • Data Platforms – MySql and NoSQL databases.
  • Organization/Ticketing Systems – JIRA, Redmine or similar tool.
