We are currently seeking a Software Modeling/Algorithm Systems Engineer (Level 4) to work in El Segundo, CA. This highly talented, motivated, and creative systems engineer will create new solutions and support existing capabilities of an agile software program.
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.)
Position Summary:
Software Model/Algorithm Systems Engineering, implementing ground software algorithm designs and model designs (e.g., Space-Ground models) into algorithm description documents (ADDs), as informed by program CONOPS, program requirements, space vehicle subsystem functional/performance/constraint considerations, ground interface (internal and external) considerations, and space-to-ground interface considerations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Define & design ground software algorithms
- Author algorithm description documents (ADDs) and guide software engineers who implement the ADDs into operational software.
- Analyze design artifacts/implementation against system-of-systems concepts to ensure that the system architecture and design concepts satisfy the intent of the customer requirements.
- Coach, mentor, and train others.

Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- This position requires an active/current U.S. Security Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed within the last 5 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
Preferred (Desired) Qualifications:
- Experience in software engineering/architecture for satellite ground systems.
- Experience/knowledge of the GEOINT domain.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) software efforts.
- Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, and continuous integration.
- Familiarity with any of the following: Javascript, JS frameworks, C++, databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with SOAP, RMI, REST APIs and interfaces.
- Familiarity with cloud based infrastructures (e.g., AWS).
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Additional Basic Qualifications Required:
