About the job:

In this role, you will primarily be responsible for engineering our back-end cloud services. Your day to day may include work on our vehicle-to-mobile communications architectures and APIs, fleet management systems, subscriptions and payments platform, user data management system, or other areas that sit in between the end user’s mobile device and the car.

Since you will collaborate directly with embedded, design, and product teams that help create the shared vision for our product, you will have an opportunity to heavily influence functionality related to our vehicle. You will directly work on mobile application and web/back end services that define our product. We love folks that are aware of risks, but not scared by them, and value planning, progress, and delivery over everything else.

About you:

  • Is laser focused on doing what is best for the user
  • Is obsessed with metrics and uses data to create goals and monitor results
  • Is familiar and comfortable with working on large and complex cloud projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Has robust planning and execution skills and feels comfortable making decisions even with vague constraints
  • Has a burning passion for learning – we love to hear about your side projects!
  • Has previous start up experience in a high-performance environment, is flexible, and has a strong ability to adapt to change

Responsibilities:

  • 3-5+ years of experience delivering scalable, serverless applications on services like AWS with an IoT focus for an application controlled from a mobile device
  • Prior experience developing large, distributed, and robust software systems in the cloud
  • Prior experience working on tools, deployment, and management of these large systems and services using object-oriented software design
  • Strong experience designing and developing back end APIs, communications layers and databases
  • Is aware of and can follow industry standard practices surrounding user data retention, security, and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Serverless Framework, AWS CloudFormation, or similar infrastructure provisioning tools
  • Python/Go/JavaScript experience
  • AWS or experience with another cloud provider (a handful of things we use include AWS lambda, CloudFormation, API gateway, IAM roles, and IoT core, though this is not a complete list)
  • Experience with a JavaScript framework (we like React and Angular)
