Leveraging large community-supported open solutions, the Software Engineer for Observability will be designing, implementing and validating strategies for infrastructure monitoring, alerting and self-healing systems. You will be designing, implementing and validating strategies for storing our data in cloud. You will help our engineering teams serve millions of users worldwide with the highest uptime possible. This will entail ensuring monitoring both production and pre-production systems, while pushing teams towards complete visibility of all systems. We have openings for this position in our Silicon Valley & Los Angeles offices :)

In this role, you will:

  • Build and integrate monitoring and alerting tools to monitor systems which serve hundreds of millions of users around the world
  • Collaborate with various functional teams on design and expansion of our infrastructure
  • Have an essential role in developing and maintaining the monitoring pipeline
  • Create different types of data stores in cloud for persistent storage, caching or queuing use cases
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and monitoring of the systems to ensure SLAs are met
  • Build analytics pipeline which will correlate all the events which happen in the technical stack of the app
  • Work with developers to in writing the connection libraries and the wrappers which will standardize the usage of data stores

We’re looking for:

  • MS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2 years of solid troubleshooting skills on Linux, hands-on with linux commands such as grep, awk, sed, etc.
  • 2 years of experience with AWS Technologies, including EC2, S3, etc.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Docker containers along with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Apache Cassandra, Apache Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Experience evaluating and using open source solutions that fit business needs
