Reporting to: Director of Engineering

Jumpcut is a Y Combinator company, and went through the startup accelerator in summer 2016. We create cinematic online courses with some of the world’s biggest influencers. Our founding team has years of experience creating binge-worthy content -- and now we are on a mission to interrupt the online education industry by creating courses for the modern world that are as addictive as your favorite TV show.

Role Overview:

We are expanding the whole engineering team here at Jumpcut. We are also transitioning to a more complex architecture in Google Cloud.  This person will join our only other SRE and help design and build our new infrastructure using bleeding edge tech and tools. That means everything from VPC to CI/CD.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Develop, and Implement Cloud Infrastructure to support delivering world class courses and interactive learning experiences
  • Review infrastructure code from your peers and collaborate as a team on cloud strategy and technology selection
  • Containerize applications for high performance and resiliency in cloud environments
  • Ensure systems have exceptional uptime and have best-in-class logging, monitoring, alerting, and tracing

Tech Stack:

  • Node.js / Express
  • React / Redux
  • PostgreSQL
  • HTML / CSS / Javascript
  • Google Cloud

Role Requirements:

  • 1+ years experience as an SRE supporting Google Cloud services
  • Extensive experience with Google Cloud offerings
  • Familiarity with administering relational and schemaless DBs like Postgres and Mongo
  • Experience containerizing applications that run on kubernetes and are packed with Helm
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and its infrastructure needs
  • Impeccable verbal and written English language skills

Additionally, you might be a good fit if…

  • You have implemented complex CI/CD pipelines using Helm to kubernetes clusters via Google Cloud Build
  • You have designed and implemented VPCs
  • You have established single pane of glass for Monitoring, Logging, Alerting, and Tracing using Stackdriver

Compensation, Perks, and Culture:

Compensation is competitive and dependent on experience.

An Insider's view of Jumpcut

How does your team reward individual success?

Whether reward comes through bonuses, trophies at our all hands meetings or just a simple “great job” on Slack, my success is viewed as Jumpcut’s success. That’s never been unclear at a company that values “Helping People Grow”. It’s hard not to be thankful and even harder to not give my very best.

Mahim

Copywriter

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

At Jumpcut, our mission is to help our students learn valuable skills. Education is a tricky area because everyone is so different in the way they learn and absorb information. Our biggest challenge is building a flexible online educational platform that works for every single kind of student out there, no matter your background or learning style.

Catherine

Product Manager

How does the company support your career growth?

I joined Jumpcut 10 mos. ago as a Customer Service intern - now I direct the entire CS team and am building our recruiting team, all while knowing that if I wanted to join a different department to learn new things, I'd be fully supported.

Point being: Jumpcut isn't kidding around when they say one of their core values is to "help people grow".

Terry

Customer Success Director

What are some things you learned at the company?

I originally was hired as a junior copywriter. I literally started out writing content emails. It's pretty crazy but over the course of 2 or 3 years, I ended up learning how to do product launches and learning how to put together marketing funnels that have made millions of dollars. It still sounds crazy to me.

Director of Marketing
