About Epirus:

Epirus is a high-growth technology company that develops solid-state, human-safe directed energy systems that enable unprecedented counter-electronics effects and power management solutions to enhance power efficiency in defense and commercial electronics. With a constant emphasis on innovation, we are redefining modern power systems to increase the velocity of change for our customers and bring tomorrow's capabilities to life, today.

Job Objective:

Epirus’ Leonidas product line features variants of our High Power Microwave Phased Array technology.  This technology revolutionizes High Power Microwave (RF Directed Energy) with the many advantages of solid-state RF amplifiers and phased array antennas, over older legacy architectures. This role will require familiarity with the entire system, including electrical, mechanical, digital, and software subsystems.  You will coordinate with hardware design engineers and software engineers to ensure design details are aligned and components will integrate together to meet system-level needs. You will also develop end-to-end tests and demos (from software interface to over-the-air RF) to validate new hardware/software/firmware, characterize system performance, and demonstrate product capabilities.

Duties:

  • Develop and maintain system level requirements
  • Create Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), and behavioral models using MBSE tools
  • Coordinate key requirements with subsystem design teams
  • Capture and promote Design-for-Test best practices
  • Design integration tests, including required hardware, software, lab equipment, and procedures
  • Work with subsystem teams to characterize and resolve integration / operational issues
  • Work with lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, function generators, VNAs, RF signal generators, DAQs, etc.) to characterize hardware, including possibly writing software to automate measurements and data analysis
  • Work side-by-side with test engineers and technicians to knowledge-transfer new test procedures and debug issues
  • Contribute to Qualification and Acceptance Test Planning and Verification, from component levels to subsystem and system levels, including RF Chamber testing and Field testing
  • Design system-level final check-out procedures

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years experience taking products through the end-to-end development cycle
  • US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident (future security clearance may be required)

Desired Skills:

  • RF systems (e.g. radar, comms, EW, etc.), preferably including phased arrays
  • Environmental requirements and verification (shock/vibe, humidity, temperature, dust/sand, etc.)
  • Requirements and Verification Management tools, and Manufacturing Execution System tools
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Electrical lab equipment (oscilloscopes, VNAs, etc.)
  • Scripting languages (preferably Python and/or Matlab)

At Epirus, we strive to be fast, efficient, and limitless in our approach. This agility, combined with a culture of innovation in systems development, allows us to move quickly without losing the decades of lessons learned. We have developed technologies that leverage new breakthroughs in sensors and high-power microwaves, combined with computer vision and advanced software control. Our first broad-market application is a comprehensive defense system to defeat offensive drones at scale.

As required by the Equal Pay Transparency Act, Epirus provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.

For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is:

$118,000$145,000 USD
