Senior Support Engineer, Payments

What You’ll Do:

As part of the Payments Team at Fair, it’s crucial that we have a high level of insight into our data and operations. Your main job will be to help build out our data monitoring platform which will allow us to keep track of how payments flow through the system and how they coordinate with the various features we have built out. As we develop integral features to the business, we will also have to constantly analyze and verify that the features we have built are reliable and consistent, so the platform which you are building will be essential to our development lifecycle. You will do technical deep dives into our payments platforms and create useful metrics and alerts which let us know quickly and effectively when issues arise. Furthermore, when issues do arise, your job will entail working with the appropriate engineers and business stakeholders to help create and identify resolutions to the issue. 

What You’ll Need:

• First and foremost, you will need a high attention to detail and an affinity for recognizing patterns in data. These skills are essential to figuring out what to look for in data.
• Postgres or MySQL experience. As part of your job, will be working with data on a regular basis and you will need to know how to quickly find what you are looking for.
• Scripting Experience (Ruby, Python, etc.) You will have to query directly in the code when navigating through features or debugging an issue. You may also have to write scheduled jobs in order to monitor specific functions.
• Experience using Application monitoring tools like DataDog or NewRelic
• Understanding of API and other types of system communications
• Experience diagnosing software bugs
