Summary: Geneva and Los Angeles-based consumer electronics company developing the next generation of wireless audio devices is looking for a highly skilled natural language processing (NLP) and AI voice engineer. The NLP engineer will execute HED’s research and development for our voice enabled audio technology platform. You will work on the latest technologies in AI, machine learning, and data science to deliver new and exciting consumer experiences. This role is part business, part research, and part technology. The successful candidate will have the title “Senior NLP Engineer” reporting to our VP of Product in Los Angeles. The candidate will collaborate closely with our R&D team in Geneva and will require both domestic and international travel. While the role is based in West Hollywood, CA, we are open for remote work.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:

1. Lead research, design, and architecture of conversational AI solutions for consumer applications

2. Collaborate with R&D, product, business teams, and management to develop strategy for execution and success

3. Working with our Geneva engineering team, Implementation of conversational AI systems and technologies utilizing automatic speech recognition (ASR), natural language processing (NLP), natural language generation (NLG) techniques, machine learning, and deep learning neural networks

4. Maintain roadmap for technology and feature/function rollout 

5. Perform system performance analysis and proposal of continuous improvements

6. Perform build, buy, partner analysis for development 

7. Maintain expert industry knowledge on relevant technologies, solutions, companies, and PaaS/SaaS providers

8. Advise management on best practices, technology, and budgets for development and maintenance of a conversational AI system

9. Assess the corporate strategy, engineering resources, and develop a hiring plan to scale the NLP team. Recruit develop, and manage talent to ensure program success      

Skills and experience: 

• Expertise developing automatic speech recognition (ASR), natural language processing (NLP), natural language generation (NLG) systems

• Expertise in acquiring, processing, analyzing and modeling of information from potentially massive amounts of big structured and unstructured data

• Experience with AI systems, machine learning, deep learning and neural networks 

• Solid software development experience in multiple languages - Python, R, Java, C/C++, other

• Adaptable and comfortable with frequent change

• Experience managing and working within budgets  

• A leader with excellent communication skills with ability to influence and align at all levels of the business 

Education /Years of relevant experience:

• Master's or PhD in NLP, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field 

• 5+ years relevant professional experience
