Senior Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Analysis

Job objective: The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience designing, building, and testing thermal cooling solutions for phased array products and packaging RF assemblies. We are particularly interested in mechanical engineers that have experience in designing and testing systems to pass environmental qualification testing to commercial or military standards. The ideal candidate will have designed and successfully taken a system through various levels of environmental test. 

 Duties: 

  • Define program and subsystem environmental requirements 
  • Design thermal management / packaging solutions for RF power amplifier assemblies 
  • Simulate electromechanical assemblies and full system thermal models 
  • Define and execute component thermal tests and validation.  
  • Support ruggedization of components to survive harsh environments 

 Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering 
  • Comfortable using hand calculations and developing internal tools to analyze thermal performance of complex systems 
  • Experienced in Thermal FEA  (Thermal Desktop, Solidworks Simulation or related)CFD (Solidworks FlowSim or related)and FEA pre/post-processors (FEMAP or similar) 
  • Experienced in CAD design (Solidworks or related) 
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience 
  • Minimum experience includes at least 2 full product life cycles 
  • US Citizen (future security clearance may be required) 

 Desired Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience with RF systems or component mechanical design  
  • Aerospace/Defense experience and/or military experience  
  • Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization 
  • Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment 
  • Able to drive designs from basic concept through manufacturing and test 
  • Experience in test and instrumentation of components and validating thermal models 
  • Experienced in various manufacturing techniques (traditional and additive)

Location

Our company is located in Torrance, just off of the 405. We moved into our new 100,000+ square foot facility in November 2021 and love calling it home.
