Overview:

As a Front End Engineer at Weedmaps, you’ll use your extensive knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to responsive implement user interfaces for our web applications. We leverage modern tooling such as React, ES6, and SASS to deliver user experiences that work well across all screen sizes. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and QA to plan, build, test and deploy new features in an agile environment.

Qualifications:
 

• Minimum 5 years of development experience at startup / mid-sized companies
• Effective communication skills, a positive attitude, and ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Professional experience with modern JS libraries and tooling e.g. React, Webpack, etc.
• Expertise in building responsive user-interfaces
• Possess a high level of attention to detail and aesthetic sensibilities
• Expert knowledge of modern browser technologies, cross-browser compatibility issues, and client-side performance considerations

Responsibilities:
 

• Collaborate with stakeholders to build new and iterate on existing features
• Help optimize legacy code for improved performance
• Regularly participate in code reviews and other team functions
• Provide technical leadership and assist guiding the team's overall technical direction
• Passionate about improving processes and developer productivity
• Offer mentorship and pair with other engineers regularly

Pluses:
 

• Experience implementing localization and accessibility standards
• Experience writing performant REST API’s or GraphQL
• Deep understanding of the GitFlow branching strategy
• Familiarity with server-side frameworks such as Ruby on Rails
• Computer science or other engineering background
