JOB DESCRIPTION – Senior Engineer, Special Projects

You will be dedicated to supporting the build-out of integrations and operational tooling to support a rapidly growing sweetgreen business unit. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to architect and develop end to end solutions that can adapt to changing business conditions. You need to be willing to expand your skill set to learn and quickly apply new technologies.

This is a software engineering position that leans backend but will contain opportunities for front end implementations. Some project responsibilities include 3rd party API integrations, internal web service development, and automated reporting. You will be expected to own the product development process from architecture to deployment and maintenance with assistance from the rest of the data team’s engineers, analysts, and data scientists.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, Economics)
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python development
• 2+ year of SQL experience: query optimization, relational data store architecture
• Strong understanding of engineering best practices and an insistence on shipping high-quality products
• Microservice architecture on AWS with a specific focus on ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, and managed queues and caches

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Experience building ETL/ELTs
• Docker
• Experience with the Serverless Framework
• Some front end web development experience
• SQL & NoSQL design experience
• Experience with Node.js, React
• Experience writing RESTful APIs
• Interest in analytics, machine learning, and big data
