Senior Electrical EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000278534Date Posted:2021-10-20-07:00Location:USA - Huntington Beach, CAJob Description Qualifications: The Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) organization is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to develop advanced FPGA, analog, and digital circuits for a special product line expected to last many years. The BR&T senior electrical engineer is a seasoned, skilled and expert electrical engineer who will be assigned to and lead a new Boeing Motor Controllers (BMC) technology team. This will require senior level knowledge and experience for success. The work scope requires someone willing to do many different things from cradle to grave including all the lab work which will require on-site work at the Huntington Beach, California. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and work with teams and Boeing technical fellows working on complex technical challenges in support of next generation avionics and controller boxes. Specific areas include batteries and power management, motor controllers and actuators for flight control surfaces, refueling booms and unique applications. Position Responsibilities:

  • Primary duties include development of avionics and controller boxes including design reviews, lab test, qualification, and product delivery.
  • Performs detailed digital, analog, and power system circuit designs.
  • Develops designs for space applications and radiation environments.
  • Develops new concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Recommends and manages technology insertion.
  • Resolves complex issues on critical programs related to architectural approaches, requirements, specifications and design.
  • Leads and supports technical aspect of proposal preparation.
  • Supports module design, module and LRU-level requirements verification.
  • Performs optimization and troubleshooting of circuit designs during the engineering development process.
  • Leads activities in support of supplier management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services.
  • Engages with the commercial suppliers performing the manufacturing of the controllers and battery development.
  • Identifies critical performance measures and develops processes for computing them.
  • Coordinates engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product.
  • Works independently and supports the Boeing Technical Fellows and Chief Engineer.
  • Mentors and teaches entry and mid-career engineers to maintain BMC technologies.

  • Entrepreneurial with ability to quickly establish a cohesive & effective technical team

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 8+ experience performing circuit design
  • 5+ years of experience performing hands on hardware engineering integration and/or test
  • 5+ years leading a technical engineering team

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience running MatLab, Simulink or National Instruments LabView
  • Experience or education with circuit design tools (SPICE, Mentor Graphics, Hardware Description Language (HDL))
  • Experience with motor controls, battery management systems and/or actuators
  • Experience in general analog electronic circuit design; specifically, ruggedized power electronics design (power supplies, EMI, filters, etc.)
  • Experience of model based engineering and Boeing design practices
  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships with senior leaders, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners

Typical Education & Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
