Job Summary:
iHerb is seeking a talented and motivated Robotics Systems Engineer with an emphasis on Industrial Machine Safety and Safety Systems. This position is responsible for new Fulfillment Center systems engineering design support, related to regulatory compliance. This individual must possess a strong understanding of regulatory compliance schemes and processes required to specify, test, qualify, document and maintain certifications related to automatic and autonomous guided vehicle Product Safety, Machine Safety, and Functional Safety compliance for domestic and international markets.
Job Expectations:
Work cross-functionally with teams to perform and complete Safety & Compliance requirements for equipment/product design
Interpret and apply regulations, standards and internal requirements to new technologies/products
Experience reviewing equipment, including conveyance and machinery for proper guarding, interlocks and safety features
Provide Safety & Compliance input during “product scoping” to identify concerns for operators interacting with the equipment
Evaluate and review schematics and drawings providing Safety & Compliance input during product development/early design
Leverage Support processes, systems and tools to resolve safety related technical problems
Track issues through resolution phase, engaging technical subject matter experts as needed
Support Engineering to understand safety issues and solution options
Compile data to facilitate analysis and solution selection
Conduct meetings to include Design Reviews, Solutions layouts and Risk Assessments
Support site launch (travel required)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
Technical problem-solving and analytical skill-set
Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Working knowledge and experience with: OSHA regulations, NRTL, CE, IEC, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, ANSI/RIA 15.06, NFPA 79, UL 508A, IEC 60204
Experience supporting Safety programs by means of identifying equipment needs, documentation needs, support equipment needs, staging and support of equipment to be tested, debug capabilities, etc.
Experience interacting with partners, regulatory agencies, test labs, etc.
Ability to multitask in a high energy environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an industrial/warehouse environment
Robotic and automation safety ownership
Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues
Experience working with others to implement new systems and drive initiatives cross-functionally
Strong analytical techniques and ROI analysis to build complex business cases
Strong working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
Proven ability to manage time allocated to specific tasks and escalations
Equipment Knowledge:
Understanding of Automated Guided Vehicles, Robotics or Mechatronics
Experience Requirements:
Requires four (4) to five (5) years of experience applying safety principles and addressing safety issues in a manufacturing, warehouse or other operations focused environment.
Education Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering is preferred, other degrees in a related field with work experience will be considered.
