Job Summary:

The Principal Electrical Engineer works closely with the other engineering functions (ME, SW, Systems integration, Layout, TPM) to design, develop, test and mass produce robotic fulfillment hardware that improve FC cubic density and order velocity to improve customer experience. The Electrical Engineer makes independent critical design decisions and must understand engineering best practices and GMP. As a Principal, you’ll be creating the architecture, leading design direction and ensuring that the general EE team product is very high quality.

 

A day in the life….. of the Electrical Engineer. You’ll be part of a team designing a highly integrated software and hardware system that uses WiFi, motion control, multiple cameras and a variety of motors and sensors all in a very cool AMR/AGV platform. Your day may include lelading brainstorming discussions, defining architecture individually, discovering and resolving design issues, developing new modules - analog and digital circuits for power control, battery management, sensors, cameras, encoders and motor controls. Job Expectations:

  • Drive the definition of the system architecture

  • Define and manage the EE development schedule and execution using accelerated phase gate process

  • Identify performance, cost and schedule risks, communicate and develop mitigation plans for same.

  • Mentor and develop staff

  • Develop system and module specifications

  • Design or influence complete compute module: processor, memory, interfaces, etc

  • Design or influence WiFi, Cameras, Safety Systems, etc.

  • Design or influence power battery management systems (BMS), high current motor controllers (BLDC).

  • Leverage your experience to accelerate testing and production of prototypes and final material

  • Continuously collaborate with your cross functional peers, maintaining great communications

  • Collaborate and support Project Managers

  • Communicate with company executives on technical decisions and designs

  • Operate in an ambiguous environment

  • Occasional travel

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in complex analog and digital circuit design

  • Familiar with schematic design and PCB layout best practices and tools

  • Familiar with industry standard eCAD design tools, industry trends, and design for manufacturability

  • Ability to manage a process driven development mentality while also balancing time to market

  • Know how to design for future while demonstrating progress today

  • Commitment to rigorous testing & validation practices

  • Experience with the project management of technical projects a plus

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Education and Experience:

  • Deep Experience taking clean sheet design through to mass production launch and sustaining
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of prior Principal level responsibilities including:
  • High Power Motor Controllers, BMS, Wi-Fi, Encoders, A/D, general IO, Camera modules and processing.

  • Experience designing complete Compute Modules (Processor, Memory,I/O, Firmware, etc)

  • BSEE or comparable work experience
