GoGuardian is hiring a highly motivated Principal Data Scientist to work closely with cross functional teams to help us essentially reshape the student learning experience. As one of founding members of this team, it is a very dynamic opportunity that will require molding raw data sets into valuable student insights using production quality machine learning models for cutting edge educational technology products. You will leverage your knowledge of statistics to help create and enhance our capabilities around predictive analytics while innovating and quickly iterating on novel solutions to challenging data problems.

Success factors:

  • Build Machine Learning (ML) models using the R, Python and tools such as SKLearn.
  • Comparing multiple models and datasets using determined scoring and measurement techniques.
  • Building tooling to support related efforts such as data sanitization, data collection, or model testing.
  • Collaborate across engineering, product and business teams to develop data products driven by business needs. 
  • Deploy machine learning models as real-time production services at scale. 
  • Contribute to our machine learning tech-stack and apply industry best practices. 

Your background:

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field (Econometrics, Computer Science)
  • 7 years+ experience as Data Scientist (data analysis, visualization, ML) with relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with multivariate regression, logistic regression, clustering algorithms, support vector machines, decision trees and predictive modeling
  • Excellent self-learner with a heavy interest in data and machine learning.
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Docker in production, preferably with implementations at scale.

What you'll need:

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to operate and maintain software systems in production
  • Experience with open source machine learning tool kits, deep learning, data mining, and statistical analysis tools and languages such as The R, Python, SAS or SPSS. 
  • Ability to work across multiple cross-functional teams effectively in an agile environment.
  • Excellent communication skills along with strong presentation skills.
  • Experience building Data Science Teams along with ability to coach junior team members for success. 
  • Experience working with Educational Technology products a huge plus!
