ONYX Design is seeking a multi-talented web developer with significant PHP, WordPress, and WooCommerce development experience to join our team. 

We are a startup that provides web design, custom development, eCommerce, SEO and marketing services to a wide variety of clients. Our office is located in the fashion district of Downtown Los Angeles.

We are looking for candidates who are as passionate about web development as we are. We try to identify people with the "spark" of loving what they do so much that learning and growing their skills is a natural side effect of their ongoing curiosity and the challenges they overcome as they work.

More concretely, we are looking for developers who understand PHP, WordPress, and WooCommerce development at a thorough conceptual level. Moreover, we are looking for web artisans who can think in the holistic, architectural way required to develop complex customizations and plugins for WordPress and WooCommerce.

Candidates must be excited about the prospect of joining a small, tightly-knit team at a fast-growing company. This is not a corporate setting. You must be ready and willing to take on a variety of tasks. We are seeking an ambitious developer who wants to grow with the company.

Responsibilities

• Building, maintaining, and improving custom WordPress and WooCommerce plugins across multiple client sites - these are large.
• Setting up sites and dev sites. Migrating / deploying websites.
• We are a small, agile tech company, so you must be adaptable, agile, and willing to step in where needed.

Required Skills / Experience

• Must be a current resident of Los Angeles, authorized to work in the US, and able to commute to downtown Los Angeles
• At least 3 years of experience with PHP / WordPress / WooCommerce back-end development
• Deep understanding of WordPress development
• Proficiency with MySQL and specifically WordPress/WooCommerce databases
• Experience working with APIs
• Solid knowledge of frontend languages and frameworks: HTML(5), CSS(3), javascript, jQuery, bootstrap, AJAX
• Comfortable using Git and experienced in development in a team/collaborative context; able to adhere to company policies and coding standards
• Understanding of OOP principles and architecture. Must be able to think critically and design solutions to complex problems, then execute those solutions in code. 

Bonus Skills / Experience

• Any additional frameworks, especially VueJS, Angular, React, Ruby
• Laravel experience
• Server configuration and management/Apache/Linux
• Shopify theme / app development experience
• Domain / DNS configuration, Cloudflare
• Understanding of SEO
• Graphic Design / Adobe Suite
• Online marketing (Email marketing, Adwords / PPC, Social Media)
