Mid-Level Avionics Thrust Management Systems EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000263516Date Posted:2021-10-25-07:00Location:USA - Long Beach, CA, USA - Mesa, AZ, USA - Plano, TXJob Description Qualifications: Boeing AvionX is looking for a Mid-Level Avionics Thrust Management Systems Engineer (Level 3) to lead efforts for aviation electronics thrust management development in Plano, Texas, Mesa, Arizona, or Long Beach, California.The successful candidate will work independently with some guidance on thrust management models and development efforts, requirements analysis and trade studies, problem report closure and peer reviews of deliverables for certification purposes. In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have a background in systems development, systems integration and thrust management modelling., and test process/procedure. Candidates should have demonstrated ability to work independently and on remote teams. Occasional domestic or international travel may be required. Off shift and weekend work may also be occasionally required to meet contractual milestones, objectives and delivery schedules.Position responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
  • Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
  • Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture
  • Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success
  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience with avionics and aircraft systems
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering (i.e. system or software requirements, development, and/or test)
  • Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Modeling & simulation of system thrust management, including design of algorithms used to plan, estimate, and/or control system motion
  • Experience developing models for thrust management of commercial aircraft flight system
  • Experience developing software with Python
  • Boeing Commercial Airplanes certification processes experience

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
