The Flex Company is seeking a talented, full-time engineering lead to join our team to help our technology grow as quickly as our revenue by diving into our e-commerce platform, and evolving our technology stack to enable us to create best in-class experiences for our subscribers. This means both creating new features for our customers and collecting and serving data to our teammates so that they can make the best decisions possible. This role is pivotal to the future of technology at The Flex Company as you will set the direction for how data and applications are leveraged internally and externally.

This role will be at the heart of all engineering decisions at The Flex Company. You’ll lead the engineering roadmap for The Flex Company, as a part of the Technology (Engineering, Product, UX/UI) team you will focus on continuing to develop our platform for a high-growth subscription service. This includes engineering challenges like re-architecting our front-end into a PWA (Progressive Web Application) or taking our current custom database and turning it into a true data warehouse.

You will be expected to help vet contracting partners, determine team growth needs, and contribute significantly on how to scale the engineering team. You will own code quality and drive the team to increase testing coverage.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Develop a technology roadmap that allows us to continue growing both our custom applications and our current or future 3rd party vendors
• Lead engineering team by example, instill important engineering values like code quality and testing in the team
• Oversee and build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, collaborate with product to t-shirt sizes future projects
• Work continuously to analyze and improve the stability of our website and features
• Work closely with the Head of Product to review and iterate on the Technology team process. Look at key engineering team metrics to help improve team function (e.g. velocity, cycle time).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience as a senior software engineer
• Fluency in software engineering principles, design and processes
• Strong understanding of data structures and architectural design principles
• Considers themselves a full-stack developer
  • Has mastered at least two programming languages, ideally one of those being Ruby or Python
  • Strong experience utilizing 3rd party APIs
  • Experience with front end development: Javascript (and one JS Framework, Node, React, etc.), CSS, HTML
  • Solid knowledge of relational DBs and how to organize data
• Outstanding communication skills
• Repeatedly built and shipped successful products you are proud of
• Experience building and scaling platforms through periods of high growth
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Unafraid to ask for advice or help, but also enjoys teaching themselves new things

• Experience with Shopify/Recharge or any subscription based technology
