Lead Sensor Hardware and Software Engineer, El Segundo, CA

Position Summary:

This position will support the Phantom Works Space Advanced Missions team across multiple programs in developing and implementing rendezvous and proximity operations capabilities. In particular this position will focus on software related to the image processing and interfacing to other key subsystems like guidance and relative navigation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Provides technical leadership for software.
  • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Works under minimal direction.

This position requires the ability to obtain an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with a Single Scope Investigation SCI/SSBI eligibility. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with a Single Scope Investigation SCI/SSBI eligibility. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). 
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related technical filed
  • 7+ years' experience software development full-life cycle
  • 5+ years' leading software development projects or project teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with a Single Scope Investigation SCI/SSBI eligibility.
  • Previous experience with software architecture definition, software development, sensors and modeling of sensors, and hardware testing
  • Experienced software engineer that leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.
