About the role:
As a Lead Engineer/Architect you will be one of the senior-most technologists at Aspiration. Your primary mission will be to accelerate adoption of innovative technologies which will help establish a competitive advantage in the FinTech industry. You will be responsible for evolving the architecture, developing a system which is reliable and resilient, mentoring and coaching other engineers in the team and creating innovative solutions which will seed the next generation of banking product ideas.
What you’ll do:
- Be the primary party responsible for the architecture of the system, selecting new patterns and paradigms which will unlock industry leading financial technology innovations
- Work throughout the entire system from the data all the way to the customer experience
- Establish patterns which help us better leverage data so that our customers can benefit from automated, data-driven recommendations
- Lead by example and produce high quality code and architecture which is reliable, resilient and which establishes best practices for the team
- Be a product thinker who uses new technology paradigms to drive innovative product ideas
- Provide technical mentorship to engineers across our organization
- Effectively communicate technical and business risks to stakeholders
- Create technical requirements and architecture design documentation
What you’ll bring:
- 10+ years of software engineering, architecture and leadership experience in developing robust & scalable systems
- BS, MS or Ph.D in Computer Science
- Experience with serverless technologies
- Experience with full stack development and expert level knowledge of at least one OO programming language (Java, Go, Python, etc.)
- Extensive experience in collaborating with product teams and business, evaluating technologies, developing engineering roadmap, building POCs, and ensuring code quality and iterative lean delivery
- Strong hands-on coding skills and knowledge of software engineering best practices (e.g., software development, test driven development, unit testing, code reviews, design documentation)
- Experience designing APIs adhering to the REST architecture style
- Understanding of database schema design and normalization strategies
- Self-starter, naturally curious and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with peers, contractors, clients and leadership
