As our Lead Developer, you will lead all engineering efforts creating our marketplace platform. You will lead the architecture and full development of the existing codebase, develop compelling features, and scale out the RECESS ecosystem as we further execute on the company’s vision. You should  be an experienced full stack engineer that is comfortable developing a great user experience across platforms catered at the unique needs of a dual-sided marketplace.

In this role, you will define our engineering direction, working directly for the co-founders. You will juggle defining the long-term architecture and immediate engineering execution including breaking down work and delegating pieces as needed, impacting the business at all levels

Responsibilities:

• Manage backlog, time estimations, and lead sprint planning working in conjunction with the company founders

• Contribute to the overall architecture of the application

• Develop client facing full-stack software: back/front/ops

• Own features from development to production

• Work with engineering and product teams to support product demand

• You have excellent written and verbal skills

• You have extensive experience in software development, scripting and project management

• You are a senior full stack engineer with 5+ years experience

• You have at least 5 years experience and proficiency with at least one of the following languages: GO, Java, Node, PHP, Ruby

• You have Proficiency with any SQL based database

• You have Proficiency with any NOSQL based database

• You are comfortable in a unix shell environment

• You are driven by craftsmanship and ownership with a strong engineering / CS background.

• You are as comfortable on the frontend as the backend, in building full stack products.

• You care about the details and quality of the products, and measure success by iteratively delivering high impact features at high quality and on schedule.

• You have the ability to work independently

• You have a track record of trying and learning new things.

• You have a point of view but low ego.

Bonus points if:

• You have experience working on dual-sided marketplaces.

• You have mobile experience.

• You have experience as an early engineer at a startup.

• You have experience hiring and leading small development teams

• You have experience with coding for the Unix Shell (BASH)

• You have experience working knowledge of Amazon Web Services

• You have experience with AWS CLI requirements and capabilities

• You have experience with TDD/BDD environments
