Full Stack Engineer

As a Full Stack Engineer you will write the code that powers the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and 150 other publications. You will build cutting edge tools for our internal groups and newsrooms that crave ever more data and features, as well as scalable and robust services that are used by nearly 100 million visitors every month and growing. You’ll work on a versatile, cross functional team that is defining the future evolution of digital media.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing cloud platform, apps, and services.
- Building reusable components and libraries for future use.
- Translating feature requests and designs into high quality code.
- Optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers.
- Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features.
- Write quality code that is testable, maintainable and high performant.
- Promote design guidelines, best practices and standards.
- Making a difference in the way people get their news.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer working on customer facing systems
- 5+ years of experience with Python
- 5+ years of experience in front end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, JQuery)
- 3+ years of experience with React or a similar MV* framework
- 3+ years of experience with Django/Flask
- Proven experience building responsive websites
- Good understanding of source control technologies (particularly Git)
- Experience with responsive frameworks (e.g. Foundation or Bootstrap)
- Smarts, humility, creativity, and equal willingness to teach and learn.
