Job Summary:

The Firmware Developer will help to deliver, maintain, and improve complex robotic systems working closely with other engineering functions (EE, SW, Digital Hardware, TPM). This role is responsible for problem solving as well as building and delivering innovative solutions. The Firmware Developer will work on robotic control systems including IO, Visions Systems, Safety Systems and more. 

Job Expectations:

  • Participate as an active member of the firmware team, developing and maintaining the firmware base

  • Learn and contribute to multiple components with the firmware environment, potentially including areas such as cameras, WiFi, security, navigation, sensors, and more

  • Work with and execute firmware development of critical elements

  • Cut through ambiguity with confidence

  • Know what to focus on and seek out advice from senior team members for best approach to complete the task

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic technical knowledge in key areas, notably Linux tools & architecture, Networking (OSI model), Wireless (Wifi, bluetooth), Embedded Software, Development (C/C++), Real Time OS (RTOS), FPGA, Control Systems (PID), Schematic Interpretation, and debugging

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across development teams to design and build solutions and critical products at massive scale

  • Possess, utilize, and apply best practices in embedded engineering and have a strong sense of making continuous improvements

  • Have a capacity and tolerance for extreme context switching and interruptions while remaining productive and able to deliver to commitments

  • Strong problem solving mindset and the ability to participate in efforts to promote improvements to overall quality and customer experience, providing effective guidance and leadership

  • Desire to take on new challenges and the ability to know where to find answers fast

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

Experience Requirements:

Generally requires a minimum of 1 (one) year as a Firmware Developer.

Education Requirements:

BA/BS/MS/PhD in computer science or computer engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience.

Judgment/Reasoning Ability:

Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner. 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. The Team Member is frequently required to sit, walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers, bend, stoop and reach with hands and arms. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. The Team Member may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies 25+ pounds. Proper lifting techniques required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
