Job Description

Find your future with us. This position applies broad knowledge of design and engineering principles in the field of RF satellite communications systems and payload architectures. The selected candidate should have knowledge and experience with designing RF distribution systems including; Test equipment, to include RF down-converting, transceivers, switching, electrically phase matched distribution architectures and antenna receive and transmit characteristics for various antenna types. Knowledge of RF propagation through RF distribution and switching systems. Evaluating expected receiver performance based on modulation scheme, antenna characteristics, distribution architecture, and receiver characteristics.

Plan, design, develop and deliver RF STE and STE components. Evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Analyze current systems and system architecture.

Interact with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers. Provides support to products throughout their life cycle by recommending engineering solutions to issues. Writes simple sections of proposals to support development of new business. Supports project management by preparing and presenting project status data.

  • Lead trade studies.
  • Define and verify STE requirements and interfaces.
  • Lead system-level integration and validation.
  • Participate in troubleshooting field return RF assemblies, resolving test failures, generating repair plans and supporting final tests/date review
  • Participate research of technical, manufacturing, operational and quality issues, and designs interim and final engineering solutions
  • Participates in Material Review engineering and root cause analysis
  • Develops and implements product/process improvements
  • Perform analyses for system capacity, reliability, and performance.
  • Perform hardware procurement engineering support, design reviews, and unit sell-off.
  • Lead system preparation, execution, troubleshooting, and verification.
  • Mentor junior RF systems engineers and review their work for quality.
  • Must be proficient with various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point. 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

The Boeing Test Systems Team is looking for a RF Design Engineer based out of El Segundo, California.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed or updated within the last 5 years
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 6+ years of experience with RF electronics design

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Support Equipment/Test Equipment Design
  • Experience with MatLab
  • Experience with Systems Engineering

Typical Education/Experience:  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
