The Boeing Defense, Space and Security, Space Electronics division is seeking a Experienced Technology Qualification and Device Reliability Engineer (Level 3) to provide engineering and laboratory support to the advance technology team located in El Segundo, CA.

Position Overview:

This position focuses on identifying and qualifying next generation semiconductor technologies for insertion in to flight programs. Involve laboratory testing of semiconductor devices and circuits with the intention of determining reliability and flight worthiness.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and perform evaluations of the reliability and environmental robustness of some new technologies.
  • Assist with operation of Boeing’s Technology Qualification laboratory.
  • Monitor and guide vendors of new solid-state devices to ensure their processing, evaluation, screening, etc. are sufficient for Boeing’s purposes.
  • Develop new techniques for characterization and reliability/robustness estimation, as required by new device technologies and new applications.
  • Understand customer and system requirements and understand basic architectural approaches to know how new technologies are to be applied.
  • Develop high-level and detailed designs consistent with requirements and specifications.
  • Validate designs through various methods of review, testing and analysis.
  • Identify, track and statuses technical performance measures to measure progress and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Support Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and other technical services of limited scope.
  • Provides engineering support throughout the lifecycle of a test. 
  • Works under general direction.

This position requires the ability obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

A final U.S.  Top Secret clearance post start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • 5 or more years experience with engineering
  • Academic education, training or work experience with semiconductor and/or photovoltaic cell systems
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Hands on experience working in a laboratory test environment
  • Experience performing Reliability Analysis
  • Knowledge or experience of lifetest
  • Knowledge or experience of semiconductor reliability

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.
